How it works

Three steps, once per title. After that, writing each stick is a single action.

Point it at your files

Choose the folder holding your book — the pages, the video, the fonts. Every file inside it is locked.

It locks the content

Your books and video are encrypted. Each stick is then stamped with its own key, tied to that stick's hardware.

Write as many as you need

Plug in sticks one after another in hands-free mode. It writes, verifies and ejects each one, then waits for the next.

Nothing to install, nothing to sign up to. The reading window travels on the stick itself — one build for Windows, one for Mac — so your reader double-clicks a file and the book opens. Nothing is installed on their computer, and nothing is written to it.

Try it before you talk to us. The demonstration edition is the same tool at the same version, with one difference: a large DEMO notice appears for about two seconds every forty seconds, for as long as it is open — so a stick written with it can be tried, but never shipped.

Copy the SecureContent folder to another machine and the licence no longer unwraps. The content will not open. That is the whole promise.

Both platforms, one stick. Sticks are written on Windows, and the same stick then opens on Windows and on a Mac — bound to that stick's own hardware either way. There is no Mac-only build to keep track of, and nothing extra to stamp.

We would rather be straight with you: a determined attacker who can watch the screen while the book is open is a different problem, and no offline system solves it completely. What SecureUSB-VGuard guarantees is that the files themselves are useless the moment they leave the stick they were written to.

Questions

Does the tool run on a Mac?: The administrator tool runs on Windows. The sticks it writes are not Windows-only: each one opens on Windows and on a Mac, and the protection is bound to that stick's own hardware on both. You do not need a Mac to produce a stick that a Mac user can open.
Does it work without internet?: Yes. Writing sticks never needs a connection, and neither does reading them. Useful if you build at a print house with no guest wi-fi.
What opens the book on the reader's computer?: Our own reading window, Vguard-Reader. It travels on the stick — nothing to install, and nothing is written to their computer: the pages and video are decrypted as they are read, in the browser engine the system already has.
What happens when someone copies the stick?: They get an encrypted folder and a message telling them the content is locked to the original stick. Nothing opens.
Can I put several titles on one stick?: Yes. One licence covers the sticks you write, however you split the content across them.
Which platforms do readers need?: Windows 10 or 11, or macOS 11 and later. The readers for both travel on the same stick, so you do not need to know which your readers use.
What do I need to build sticks?: A Windows PC and a USB hub. No special USB sticks — any brand works, though we do recommend checking a sample of your batch before ordering in volume.
